Each time air passes through a Nordic Pure pleated furnace air filter, lint, dust, pollen, bacteria, pet dander, dust mites, mold spores, smoke particles, virus carriers, allergens and other contaminants are removed.   MERV 10 furnace filters are comparable to HVAC filters with the rating of MPR 900-1000. While different companies use different scales to measure the air filter’s efficiency, Nordic Pure chose to follow the industry standard, MERV, as developed by ASHRAE (the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioner Engineers). No matter the name of the rating, the efficiency of all air filters is rated according to the same criteria as set forth by ASHRAE.  Nordic Pure furnace air conditioner filters are manufactured using a heavy duty, moisture resistant beverage board frame. As with all Nordic Pure furnace air conditioner filters, the material is electrostatically charged to attract unwanted particles. The media used will not promote the growth of bacteria or mold on the air filter and is better at trapping airborne particles than fiberglass filters. For fresh, clean air in your home and office, it is important to regularly change your AC filter, especially during home improvements. We recommend changing your HVAC furnace filter every 1-3 months, depending on your unique home or office environment. It is best to measure the exact size of your A/C filter and compare it to our Actual Size to be sure your HVAC replacement filter fits!FAQ- Frequently Asked Questions Where are my air filters located? Air conditioner and furnace filters in most homes are generally located behind an air intake grill in your home’s walls, ceiling, basement or attic. These generally look like large vents, but the air flows into them, rather than out of them when the heating or cooling system is blowing air. They may also be located in or near the air conditioner or furnace. Many homes may have more than one, and they may be different sizes. Contact your heating or cooling professional if you can’t find them. How will my filters arrive? Nordic Pure Filter’s arrive in a specially designed box that can be reclosed to keep your extra filters clean. Your filters do not arrive individually wrapped in plastic. Our Nordic Pure box has been designed and tested with a High ECT rated material to ensure that our customers receive their filters intact and undamaged during transit. If they are damaged in transit, simply contact us and we will be happy to file a claim and get you another box of filters. Where do I find the MERV rating of my filters? In order to keep our prices competitive, we do not print the MERV rating on the filter frame. We manufacture and box one MERV rating at a time. When the filters are boxed the MERV rating will either be printed on the side of the box, or a color-coded MERV sticker will be on the side of the box. The product you ordered should also be listed at the bottom of the shipping label. Which direction does my air filter face? There is an airflow direction arrow on the side edge of your Nordic Pure pleated air filter. In the absence of the arrow for the pleated air filters the metal mesh is on the air exit side. For air filters with carbon added the carbon is on the air exit side. On the half inch air filters the smooth MERV material is on the air exit side. I live in an apartment. Can I use Nordic Pure Air Filters? Most apartments have air filters in each apartment that can be replaced by you. Contact your apartment maintenance staff for information on furnace filter locations, sizes and their requirements.

The wire-backed Pleated media offers a large surface area which increases the filter’s dust-holding capacity and improves its efficiency. The air filter media can be charged electrostatically which means it attracts, captures and traps particles that would otherwise bypass the filter. The air filter’s media is rated between a MERV 8 and 13, which is one component of the FPR Rating. FPR or the Filter Performance Rating, is composed of 4-measurements for classifying air filters. Every rating includes 4-elements: MERV rating, E1 efficiency, pressure drop and dust holding capacity. MERV stands for the Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value and measures how well a filter traps particles. The higher the rating, the few particles getting through. E1 efficiency explains how well it traps the smallest particles. Pressure drop measures how much energy the HVAC unit will use to force air through the filter. Dust holding capacity describes how much dust a filter will hold in its lifespan.
