There is an indicator window with indicator beads that change from orange (when dry) to green (when wet) to indicate when the unit needs to be renewed. The unit will absorb approximately 8oz of moisture (depending on humidity levels, this should take between 4 to 6 weeks). Once the moisture has been adsorbed, it cannot leak or spill. Eva-Dry uses a specially engineered crystallized silica gel that is odorless, non-toxic, completely safe, with no risk of damage to your valuables. When the indicator beads turn green, it is time to renew the unit. Simply plug it into a power strip, the unit must sit upright during renewal, in a well-ventilated area (bathroom with exhaust fan, garage, kitchen with vent fan on, ensure the unit has at least 2-3 feet of space of space around it during renewal, etc.).
