These lids are custom designed with sophisticated 3D modeling software and manufactured in North Carolina. It is available as a beautiful sapele wood tank top simply coated with marine grade spar urethane to provide moisture resistance and also available to match any toilet manufacturers original color. The wood lid is glazed with an enamel epoxy coating so that it matches the color of your existing toilet. In most cases we already have the resin on the shelf in the color you need, but in some cases the color has to be ordered. The wood is primed to accept the finish and the finish is designed to last essentially forever. It hardens to a consistency similar to automotive paint and is chemical resistant so you can clean it with normal household cleaners. The lid is designed to accommodate tank internal parts that stick up as much as 0.2″ above the height of the top of the tank. If you have a fill valve that sticks up above the tank more than that height, you can possibly replace your fill valve with an adjustable height Fluidmaster 400A fill valve, or we may need to custom design a lid to accommodate your internal parts. Probably 90% of the time it is a white lid, although white for toilets is not a bright white. It is more of a creamy white. The next most common color is called Bone or Almond (manufacturers use different terms for the same color). This is a light sandy tan color. If it is available for that particular item, Biscuit is a color about halfway between White and Bone. If you are unsure about the color you need, the easiest thing to do would be to take either the broken lid or a bolt cap from your toilet to a Home Store where they sell toilets and ask them which color you have. If you prefer, you can also mail us this sample and we can determine it for you. The flapper/tank ball is responsible for keeping the water in the tank when the toilet/water closet is not in use. By actuating the tank handle the flapper/tank ball lifts up and lets the water out of the tank. The water goes into the bowl causing the bowl to flush. After the tank has been emptied the flapper/tank ball returns to its’ original position.
