Installed on left side of door. Note: If your winder broke after installing a new spring, there is a good chance that you do not have a gapped spring. These winders can only be used with gapped springs and will break if you try to use them with standard torsion springs.

Do not substitute a conventional tightly wound torsion spring or use standard winding cones and winding bars. Wind Direction: Stand inside the garage and look toward the driveway. The left-wound spring installs on the left side, and the right-wound spring installs on the right side.
