The 3" MPT (male pipe thread) side of the adapter will install into your existing sewer cleanout adapter and increase the top portion to a 4" FPT (female pipe thread). By increasing the size, you can then install the Homesaver 4" Sewer Relief Cap which is included. Once installed, should an unforeseen sewer backup occur, the Homesaver cap will flip up allowing the wastewater to be expelled outside of your home or business.
