Chemi-resistive Flammable Vapor Sensor The 25VS flammable vapor sensor from Therm-O-Disc® is an integral part of the Flammable Vapor Ignition Resistance (FVIR) systems offered by the North American water heater manufactures on residential power vent models. The sensor is designed to detect the presence of a specific concentration of gasoline vapors. The proprietary conductive polymer sensing film expands in the presence of flammable vapors significantly changing sensor resistance. Replaces: Rheem: AP134473, SP20172 Sears: 9005968 Lochinvar: TST1027 Bradford White: 2394556000 If your sensor looks like the one in the picture, then this is the replacement. Tip: You can check your 25VS Flammable Vapor Sensor with an electric meter that can test Ohms(Ω) by using the following procedure: 1. Turn off power to your water heater. 2. Disconnect the two wires attached to the sensor. 3. Turn your electrical tester to read Ohms(Ω). 4. Place leads from your electrical tester to each spade terminal on your vapor sensor. 5. The meter should read between 9 and 45 kΩ(kiloohm) or 9,000 and 45,000 Ω(ohms). 6. If your reading is below 9kΩ(9,000Ω) or above 45 kΩ(45,000Ω) then the sensor is bad and will need replaced. 7. After the vapor sensor is replaced some gas valve manufacturer's have a specific reset procedure that will need to be done to return the system back into service. Some of these procedures are included with the replacement sensor we sell. If you have any issues getting your gas valve to reset please feel free to contact us.
